I don't know which annual version you're using, but the recent ones, as far
as I can remember, all work the same way. My experience is with the Windows
version only - Mac menus may be different.

To delete the notes in a specific part without deleting the measure, click
the Mass Edit tool, then click on the measure to highlight it. Then click on
the MassEdit menu item in the top menu bar and select "Clear items and smart
shapes" or "Clear items" - depends on what's in the measure and what you
want to delete.

To delete an entire measure from the score completely, click either the
Measure tool or the Mass Edit tool, then click on the measure (any staff in
the system) and press the Delete key. If you use the Measure tool, the
drop-down Measure menu also includes a Delete option, but that's more
trouble to get to than it's worth most of the time.

I'm not sure what you're doing to delete all the pages except the first one
- you may be trying to block-highlight all the instruments in one measure
but end up highlighting the entire score after the point where you've
started clicking, but I'm only guessing about that. If you *want* to delete
an entire section, you only need to block-mark one instrument in the system:
in Mass Edit, click in the first measure you want to delete, then use the
scroll bar at the bottom to find the last measure you want to include in the
delete and shift-click in that measure. It doesn't really matter which
instrument you do this in, because when you press the Delete key, the entire
section you've selected will be gone.

Since about a year and a half I use Finale to write down my compositions.
But Finale is a stubborn program with a mind of its own.

And especially in deletions I do not know what I am doing wrong, I do as it
says in the help file, but I always get a different result.

Usually when I want to delete the notes in, say, the clarinets in a
particular bar, the whole bar is deleted in all instruments, but now I want
to delete a bar in all instruments I delete all pages except the first one!
I tried next to everything I can think off, but still I am not creative
enough to find out how to delete this particular measure!

Can someone help me?
