A lurker on this list was Robert King Whiteside of Texas. He was
a world-class jewelry maker and several years ago I had him make
a miniature basset horn of gold covered with opals and several
diamonds. He made an exquisite piece and I think I put a picture
of the instrument on Klarinet. He particularly enjoyed making the
piece because he was a pretty good clarinet player.

Two weeks ago I ordered a gold ring from him and even sent him a
check. This morning I sent another message asking about
engraving.

Tonight I got a message telling me that he has died. I have no
further information, but I wonder if one of our Texas members
near Mt. Vernon or Dallas could give us some more detailed
information.

The guy was an artist in gold, and I am sorry that I will never
get that ring from him.
