Hi, all.

I can add my two cents' worth to the votes on a bizarre speaker tube =20
and its contribution to the funny, growly upper clarion notes.

My A started doing this in a bad way after having only had a mild =20
case of the disease for some 10 years or so. I was lucky enough to be =20=

at a seminar where Luis Rossi was teaching, and I showed it to him. =20
He said the speaker tube was the wrong size/shape, and he recommended =20=

that I take the horn to Tim Clark. He said Mr. Clark knew exactly how =20=

the speaker tube should be.

When I asked Luis why Buffet should continue to make A clarinets with =20=

a speaker tube that was clearly unsuited to perform the task at hand, =20=

he didn't have a good answer (not that he can be expected to answer =20
questions on others' policy ...). I don't know if they have begun to =20
address this problem, but it would seem that it's not an isolated one.

The good news is that replacing the speaker tube appears to be no big =20=

deal. When I contacted Tim Clark several years ago, he said making =20
the tube for an A clarinet was quite inexpensive and any repair tech =20
could put the new one in. This, it would seem, should obviate the =20
need to send one's horn out for surgery.

Hope this is of help to someone.
Best regards,
Anna
