Thanks for all the comments on the use of bass clarinet in the Tchaikovsky
6th. We will use the bassoon, of course, since hiring a bass clarinet for
five notes would be a bonanza for the player! Our 2nd player might do it,
but (1) for five notes?, and (2) the bassoonist might be ticked off. Don't
want to make Janet even more testy than she is! IMHO, the line sounds better
with bass clarinet.
