The Hite is excellent but perhaps a little too long and open
considering the problems you are having and I think the excellent
Yamaha 4C may be a little too close to get an easy response from the
lower notes. I would suggest a Yamaha 5C and a softish reed.

Hite Premiere mouthpieces work great for kids, and the stock Yamaha
4C is also a good starter.
