A great resource on eastern clarinet music is John Chookasian in Fresno California. John is a fabulous eastern clarinet player and plays the music of many countries. One time when he was playing in a club, I was sitting right in front of him and he was explaining the rythyms all night long. Several times he has explained to me the different scales he plays and the various 1/4 tones, and sharp 1/4 tones etc.

A few years ago he was at a Steve Adelstien reed clinic and we had Steve teaching reed making and afterwards John explaining eastern clarinet.

He is very friendly and available to play with his Armenian group. I believe he is listed in Fresno, and should be available to share eastern clarinet music.
