Subj: [kl] Library of Congress ticekts for the Dec. 7 concert
Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2006 13:42:26 -0400

Lelia Loban posted on where and when things were going to happen
for those interested in the concert on Dec. 7. But I was
confused enough that I checked things out and here is the
straight skinny.

There are no tickets needed for the pre-concert lecture at 6:15
p.m. but yes, tickets ARE needed for the concert at 8p.m. Folks
can get the tickets--cheap, less than 3 bucks each--at
Ticketmaster. They can also come down with NO tickets when they
come to the lecture. At that time, they will either be given a
left-over concert ticket or a voucher for a turned-in ticket,
which is redeemed at 7:30 p.m. when the concert hall opens. Or
you can also take your chances with no tickets closer to curtain
time and get in that way--if there's room. As the speaker, I got
two tickets that I will sell for $3.05. Never miss a chance to
make a profit.

There are NO acoustically bad seats in the Coolidge. There are
some physically uncomfortable ones in the last rows (S & T I
think.)

The group that will be playing (in the Coolidge Auditorium, of
course) is the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. I believe
that it is an original instrument group. Their recordings are
marvellous. I have asked, but not insisted that they drop m. 111
in the fifth movement, but that is their call.

The Whittall pavilion is right next to the Coolidge Auditorium.
The manuscript of K. 361 will be in the Foyer of the Coolidge, in
a well-protected case with two guys built like cigarette machines
standing next to it with drawn AK47s. Touching the case will
result in 50,000 volts of electricity zooming through your body
for 2 seconds, after which you will have no body for anything to
zoom through.

I hope to see any of you who are coming after the concert. Don't
try to touch me! I am famous and will have guards and groupies to
protect me from the great unwashed.
