CLARINET AND WOODWIND COLLOQUIUM 2007

Celebrating the Collection of Sir Nicholas Shackleton

Meeting organised by the University of Edinburgh

22-24 June 2007

Edinburgh University Collection of Historic Musical Instruments is
planning an international research colloquium on woodwind instruments
with the clarinet as the central topic, to be held at the Reid Concert
Hall Museum of Instruments next year. This event will mark the
establishment of the late Sir Nicholas Shackleton's collection of
clarinets and other woodwinds in Edinburgh where it has been bequeathed.

Call for Contributions (Call for Papers)

Offers of full-length (up to 40-minute) papers and shorter (down to
10-minute) presentations, lecture-recitals, concerts and workshops are
invited. Papers should be based on original research and discoveries,
and may be on any topic relevant to the clarinet or woodwind in general.

The proceedings of the Colloquium will be published following the
event, and the full text of papers should be submitted by
1 October 2007. Editorial guidelines will be announced in advance of
the meeting. The language of the abstracts, presentations and paper
texts will be English. Papers should be delivered in person at the
Colloquium by the author (or one of the named authors in the case of
joint authorship). It is intended that there will be no parallel
sessions. There will be a small fee for participation in the
Colloquium.

The organisers request that abstracts (200 words maximum) of
full-length papers and titles of short contributions should be sent
(preferably electronically) by 15 January 2007. The length of
presentation envisaged should be indicated.

Acceptance of submissions will be notified by 15 February 2007.
Accepted abstracts will be placed on the website of the Edinburgh
University Collection of Historic Musical Instruments. Requests for
audio-visual equipment for presentations should be made by
30 April 2007.

Please notify the organisers as soon as possible (preferably by
e-mail) if you expect to attend the Colloquium - whether or not you
intend to give a paper - to help with planning, and so that you will
receive further information about the meeting.

Information about the Colloquium will be maintained on the Web at:
