The Louis D. Brandeis award of the American Jewish Congress will
be presented to E. Randol Schoenberg, grandson of composer Arnold
Schoenberg, on October 29, 2006 at the Four Seasons hotel in Los
Angeles. He is being recognized for his litigation on several
prominent Nazi-looted art cases including the portrait of
Adele-Bloch Bauer by Klimt (1907), as well as portraits by
Picasso and Canaletto.

Schoenberg is a partner at the Los Angeles firm of Burris and
Schoenberg. He has tried and argued cases before the California
Court of Appeals, the second and ninth circuit courts, the Los
Angeles Superior Court, and the United States Supreme court.

And his grandfather wrote difficult clarinet parts, too! And
while this is not, strictly speaking, a clarinet issue, a good
many of us have play Randi's grandfather's music. It is nice to
know that a good genetic line continues on.
