The first time I ever heard Til Eulenspiegel was with Band of the
Republican Guard in Paris and they used the A-flat clarinet for
the D clarinet in the orchestral part. It cut through the sound
like a knife through butter.

A lot of Italian Military Band music calls for Ab Sopranio and
the parts
(yes, there are usually 2 parts) are VERY important.
