New Edition of the Kegelduette by Wolfgang Amadè Mozart, Wintergarten Publications, Germany.

Hi folks. This is to announce the appearance of a new, comparitive edition of the well-known and beloved Kegelduette for two basset horns (or natural horns) by Wolfgang Amadè Mozart.

There is an informative preface of nearly two pages (in German) by Thomas Grass (co-author of "Das Bassetthorn") which is followed by my English translation of the same.

Then, on the left hand pages, all 12 duets are reprinted just as they appeared in the first edition of 1802/03 in Paris.

On the right hand pages is a version which is taken (as far as was practicable to write down) from the CD recording of Wolfgang Meyer and Reiner Wehle. For No. 6 which takes up two pages, it was necessary to create folding out double pages. This is an excellant help for the student of classical ornamentation and embellishments. And it is a treasure for anyone who wants a clear and easy to read copy of the first edition.

By the way, for those clarinetists who are unfortunate enough not to own a basset horn, there are only four low c's in this original version and, in these cases, we have provided an ossia c in small print, one octave higher so as to remove all guilt feelings when playing them on the clarinet!

We are looking for a publisher but in the meantime, I have produced a high quality book in DIN A4 format with a plastic ring binding so that it opens and stays opened easily. The price is 12 Euros (about USD 15.12 at the moment) plus postage (2 Euros to USA by sea/land or 6 Euros by air for one copy or 3/9 Euros for two). Payment can be made with PayPal. I send them directly from Germany.
