If in fact you went to a lecture about a new wonder drug that you read
about in an article, and later found out that the author of the article
and the lecturer were married, would you think there was a little
subterfuge involved? Would you feel a bit concerned that the lecture was
'tainted' in any way? Would you be upset with the non-disclosure of the
close tie between author and lecturer? Even if all the information given
was proved to be 100% factual?

Somehow I think the amount the lines are blurred (or how much we can
accept them being blurred) is based upon whose ox is being gored.

Rationalizing bad judgment doesn't somehow convert it to good judgment ...
