I see the Spohr concerti have already been covered. I would stick with the
third as being the best of three, all of which are extraordinary works and
I can't for the life of me understand why Weber is so frequently played but
not Spohr, who wrote fast movements that are more challenging and slow
movements that are more beautiful.
Find the recording of Leister playing these concerti on the Orfeo label
(reissued as 2 CDs) with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. It's some
of his best playing. Which says a lot.
