I donated a copy of "Harlem Blues" by William Christopher Handy
to the international clarinet library. The instrumentation is for
clarinet and string quartet, but Alan Balter, who borrowed it
from me, did the work with a string orchestra.

Handy was America's best know composer of blues music, his most
famous work being "St. Louis Blutes."

Subject: [kl] American pieces

Hello,

Next season we will have American week in our
Orchestra. I need some American pieces for chamber
music (or maybe with clarinet solo, why not). But it
has to be big group, maybe 10 people or even more. It
would be perfect with strings too. Any ideas?

Best wishes, Joze Kotar
