I looked it up in the reference BOOK, David Daniels, Orchestral Music.
Assuming it is the saber dance from Gayane: Three pieces (orig. published by
Leeds as Suite No. 1), it has *3,*3,*3,2-asx-4 3 3 1 - tmp+3- hp,cel -str

For clarinets this means 3 clarinets one of whom plays bass clarinet (but
may also play 3rd soprano in the same part) and alto sax.

It sucks but your conductor wins ... maybe he cheated and looked at the
score?

Subject: [kl] Another Saxophone Question

Khachaturian's Sabre Dance - I'm told (by my conductor) that it has 2
clarinet parts, bass clarinet and alto saxophone.

. . . but my memory tells me that it's a *tenor.*

Unfortunately, I'd put my conductor's instruction about the same on the
veracity meter as my dim memory of college days long past.

Does anyone on the list have more recent info?

Thanks muchly,

kjf
