Thank you to all of you who took the time to respond
to my question, on-list or off-list. :)

You have given me a good place to start from in
figuring out what to do.

I did talk to my brother yesterday. (The clarinet was
his before it was mine.) He confirmed that it has
always played flat. That's reassuring to me, giving
me hope that it's the clarinet's issue and not mine.
(As I said elsewhere--now if only I could find a way
to blame the clarinet for missed rhythms!)
