You, and many others, are making the common and quite poor assumption
that the price of something is solely based on the materials and
labor involved. In a free market, price is first and foremost
dictated by what people are willing to pay. If enough people are
willing to pay $650 for these mouthpieces to achieve the desired
profit, only a bad business person would charge less.

It does seem like musicians often think that mouthpiece makers and
repair people are supposed to do their work out of the goodness of
their hearts. Ironically, these are the often the same musicians who
moan and groan that they don't get paid enough to perform.

Simply put, if you think the price is too high, DON'T BUY IT.
