I am not so sure that $650 is out of line for a top professional mouthpiece.
I know that Cicero Kaspars like the one I have played for years, have sold
recently on eBay for $400-600.
If Behn has really duplicated the Chedeville hard rubber material for the
blanks, this alone, in my opinion, could justify the cost.
There is no way to under-rate the positive influence on clarinet playing of
a first line mouthpiece and I agree with several folks who have stated that
if you are a "professional" then you need professional tools and price does
not matter. Having said that, I am appalled by Buffet's new minimum pricing
policy and I am investigating ways to help my college students obtain
professional level instruments for under $2000.00 (possibly Yamaha).
