Subj: [kl] Neck and throat tension
Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2006 19:37:07 -0400

I'm a long-time lurker asking my first question to the list. For years
now I've had a great deal of tension and tightness in my neck and
throat/larynx after playing clarinet. This tension arises after a half
hour to an hour of playing, and can last for hours after playing. My
throat and larynx become tight and dry to the point of making my voice
strained. No matter how hard I try to stay relaxed this tension always
creeps up on me and can be extremely discouraging. Has anyone else
experienced this kind of extreme tension in the neck and throat area
and have any exercises to practice or words of advice? Thanks in
advance.
