FWIW, I flew out of Aspen to Atlanta last Thursday with two containers of
cork grease in my case--one a small round Yamaha and the other in a small
wooden box. After passing it through x-ray, they opened my case and checked
my reed soaker container to make sure it was empty, but just looked at the
cork grease. Leaving ATL on Sunday, however, I put the cork grease in my
checked bag just to avoid any potential problem. There, they simply ran my
case through the x-ray and never even opened it. I was amazed at how
efficient TSA was in Atlanta.

Does anyone know if carrying cork grease in the case and carrying it on
has been questioned by the security people?

I have to travel to Knoxville, Tennessee this Friday and will be
carrying on my clarinet. I have already decided to not carry my
mouthpiece or any other accessories in the case, but I was wondering
about cork grease just in case the security personnel want me to
assemble the clarinet for them.

Perhaps someone coming back from the Clarinetfest in Atlanta can share
what they went through. Speaking of Clarinetfest, I was not able to
attend. I am looking forward to someone sharing some comments about it
on the list.
