I am a New York composer, and I wonder if you'd be interested in looking
at a sonata for clarinet and piano that I wrote last year, as possible
material for either your students or yourself.

The Sonata (subtitled “Journey”) is in three movements and lasts about
15 minutes. It is essentially tonal and melodic; my general style could
be called modern American, although I think this piece sounds closer to
Hindemith and Bartok than to Copland. It calls for just a few extended
techniques (no multiphonics), but it is rather difficult, and requires
playing ability at the advanced student or professional level. It has
been performed once professionally.

If you are curious, I would be happy to send you a copy of the score or
e-mail a pdf copy. I can also furnish a recording, as well as a c.v. or
resumé which includes a list of performances and commercial CD
recordings of my music.

Thank you.

Allen Cohen
