Keith,

I've been told by many professional pilots that the holds on almost all
commercial aircraft are held at the same temp as the cabin...
There reasonable answer is always followed by the argument that pets that
are stored in the hold would freeze to death without the controlled cabin
environment.

I am sure that there are aircraft without heat in the hold. I'll ask a
neighbor pilot for American Airlines again and confirm.
