them on A clarinets because it sounded better with the soloist. I realize
that not all clarinetists have that choice, but, having the choice we chose
the A.

If I were to play the Mozart concerto with my community band, I would do
it on my Bb clarinet. Now, it just so happens that the band
transcription of the concerto has the BAND transposed up a half step, so
that it is still in written C for the soloist, so the situation is not
really parallel.
