For someone with a BQ (Bargaining Quotient) considerably less than
average, my earlier posting implying the likelihood of getting a
discount on the purchase of one clarinet in Paris is about what you
would expect from me.

The Zeiss guy was likely not buying one microscope but dozens, from
RETAIL dealers in Germany. I didn't mention in my posting that he
had been shut out as a dealer by Zeiss because of his earlier
discount sales so he had to buy from retail outlets. I can imagine
the same thing going on in music stores along the rue de Rome. One
moral of the story is to find out who this guy is, get his card, and
buy an R13 from him.
