At age 11, my fingers were too small to cover a Bb clarinet (only
simple/Albert systems available and these are a longer stretch than =
Boehm)
so I started on an Eb. This was not a problem, nor was the switch a =
problem
when I got bigger. And if you can play an eefer in tune you can play
anything in tune :)

But if this is the case (fingers too small) the Lyons C clarinet =
(simplified
Boehm) is a very good choice, and enables the beginner to play tunes in =
C
with piano etc. And it is cheap.

About renting: Students models are so inexpenssive in the US, its better =
to
buy one and let her have a nice=20
new instrument!
I do not recommane using Eb. One , because of the intonation and two ,
because it is not nesasry.

Good Luck!
