I think it's a bit cheeky of them to call him the "Space Odyssey"
composer, since Kubrick used his music without permission... :-P
The Guardian obituary quotes him as saying, "MGM wrote me such nice
letters. They say Ligeti should be happy, he is now famous in America."

It's terribly sad news, as he was an extraordinary and unique voice. I
recommend checking out his "Hamburg Concerto" for horn. It's a very
beautiful piece, and for the extra interest of folks here, it has some
wonderful basset horn parts. :-)
