Participants and coaches of the Summer Clarinet Workshop at Pomona
College will present five public concerts styled as the CLAREMONT
CLARINET FESTIVAL, Tuesday through Sunday, June 14-18, in Lyman recital
hall at Pomona's Thatcher Music Building, 4th and College streets,
Claremont, California.

Admission is $15 general; $10 students and seniors for all concerts.
June 16 is Free.
A discount festival pass for all concerts is available: $40 general; 20

THE CLAREMONT CLARINET FESTIVAL:

WEDNESDAY, June 14, 8PM-- MARGARET THORNHILL, clarinet; TWYLA MEYER,
piano with ARMEN KSADJIKIAN, cello and ALYSSA PARK, violin.
Finzi "Bagatelles"; Guastavino "Sonata"; Berg "Four Pieces"; Hindemith
"Quartet" (1938) for violin, clarinet, cello and piano.

THURSDAY, June 15, 8PM--DAVID HOWARD (bass clarinet of the Los Angeles
Philharmonic) performing on soprano, basset horn, and bass clarinets,
with TWYLA MEYER, piano and MARGARET THORNHILL, clarinet.
Lutoslawski "Dance Preludes"; Poulenc "Sonata"; Mendelssohn
"Concertpiece #2" for clarinet, basset horn and piano; Hindemith "Sonata
for bassoon and piano" on bass clarinet.

FRIDAY, June 16, 8PM--NEW MUSIC FOR CLARINET ENSEMBLES
Festival participants will perform:
"Parade" for clarinet choir and percussion, by Edward Cansino;
"Monochrome III" for nine soprano clarinets by Peter Schickele; one
movement of "New York Counterpoint" for 11 clarinets by Steve Reich; "A
Collection for Clarinet Choir' by Spencer Dorn

SATURDAY, June 17, *7:30*- CLARINET MARATHON

KAILI CURRY, JOHANNA HYUN, JOSEPH LIMACHER, WENDY MAZON, LORI MUSICANT,
NICOLE PACQUING. VICTORIA RAMOS, GARY ROBERTZ, ALEX SRAMEK, and STEVE
WHITE perform blockbusters of the clarinet repertoire:
St. Saens "Sonata"; Osborne "Rhapsody"; Weber "Concerto #1, first
movement" on bass clarinet; Debussy "Rhapsodie"; Rosza "Sonatina" for
solo clarinet; Rota "Sonata"; Arnold "Sonatina"; Schumann "Fantasy
Pieces"; Brahms "Sonata Op 120 #2"; Mucyzinski "Time Pieces".

SUNDAY, June 18, 2 PM--MORE MASTERWORKS FOR CLARINET
The same participants featured in:
Weber "Concerto #2" first movement; Finzi "Bagatelles"; Frackenpohl
"Sonata" (bass clarinet); Kibbe "Sonata" (bass clarinet); Hindemith
"Sonata"; Adams "Gnarly Buttons" (The Far Shore); Stravinsky "Three
Pieces"; Messager "Solo de Concours"; Brahms "Sonata in E-flat major"

These programs are made possible through the generosity of Amateur
Chamber Music Players and the Clinton B. Ford Fund of its ACMP
Foundation, an organization that promotes chamber music activities for
amateur musicians.
