Subj: [kl] Wonderful recording
Date: Thu, 08 Jun 2006 21:32:39 -0400

I gave a talk a week ago and was given a gift by my hosts. It is
a recording called "Mozart: Music for Winds," though the winds
are just three basset horns. But what magnificent playing, and
the intonation is simply spectacular. The performers are Lisa
Klevit, Eric Heprich, and Bill McColl. Eric and Bill I know, and
I may have met Lisa. If she is from Boston, then I have met her
when she was flown out to play basset horn with the Philharmonia
Baroque.

Remarkably the three players are all playing on original
instruments, or I should say modern reconstructions of original
instruments. I don't think they are very old.

Intelligent and beautiful playing. See www.classicalexpress.com,
though this particular recording is not yet listed. It is record
number HCX3957017 on the Classical Express label.
