I have the Billaudot version of Louis Cahuzac's Arlequin (Jacques
Lancelot collection) and 2 CDs of it being played. The CD "Les Grans
Maitres de la Clarinette Vol. 2 has David Weber playing it pretty
much as the printed music I have (with a Klezmer type bend in 2
places), but the rendition on my Simax CD with Han Petter Bonden
differs VERY significantly from the Billaudot edition. Does anyone
know how this could be. If Bonden is correct, it would seem that the
Billaudot version has been editorially hacked to pieces. If so,
would the Billaudot edition be considered a "bad" version of the
work? And why should any editor cut up a piece anyway- isn't that
the job of the composer?
