I owned one - my second A ever. Traded a Buffet A for it (in a three-way
transaction that netted me a new clarinet and a pocket of cash).

I thought it played pretty much the same as the R-13A . . . only with a
clearer sound and better intonation. Yamaha moved the octave key North a
couple of millimeters, much as LeBlanc did with the Opus/Concerto (and
Buffet did with the S-1 and Festival).

I second the emotion - if you like it, buy it, esp. since it's likely a good
deal.

IMHO, their new horns are simply fabulous. I play a set of CSVs now, pretty
much leave the Buffets in the closet. I like even tone quality, better
intonation and *far* better projection (but that's just me). With the
dollar/yen exchange rate, moreover, Yamahas are the best deal on the planet.
