Subj: [kl] Bass clarinet position results

There were several auditions for bass clarinet positions this weekend and
two were filled by a couple of players I know very well.

Joel Sheckman won the position in Grand Rapids. I have known Joel since he
was a high school student in this area. Joel studied with Eli Eban at IU and
then Jehuda Gillad at USC. He has been free-lancing in Los Angeles for
several years - a real talent! He recently bought a "CF" clarinet mouthpiece
from me

Frank Renk won the bass clarinet position in San Diego. Frank and his wife
Sheryl (Principal clarinet of the San Diego Symphony and the San Francisco
Ballet) have know each other since I moved to SF in 1981. Frank has been
acting bass clarinet with the San Diego Symphony for about 4 or 5 seasons.
Frank uses my 3L mouthpiece on clarinet and my RR mouthpiece on Bass. Sheryl
Renk uses my 3L mouthpiece on clarinet.
