I use a technique with my students that I call simply "playing in rhythms."
Choose a rhythm such as repeated dotted quarters and eighths. Apply it to
the difficult passage in a very deliberate fashion. Play forte and slap
your fingers down for each note. Play it that way until you can do it
perfectly three times in a row, and then change to a different rhythm such
as triplet, quarter; triplet, quarter. Try several rhythmic combinations.
Also try repeating each note before going on to the next one. Don't worry
about speed. Concentrate on muscle memory. Speed will happen all by
itself. When you go back to play your part as written, you will be amazed.
I'm not sure why this works, but I absolutely guarantee that it does.
