I sometimes have my students practice sections like this tongued and
staccato. It helps you to get the technical accuracy. Then add slurs when
you have control and have developed that muscle memory that is necessary.
Hope this helps!

Subject: [kl] fingers out of control !

Hi!
I am doing a recital/exam on thursday and have a huge problem with the
Debussy premiere rhapsodie. Every time I get to to the semiquaver runs my
fingers lose control, I rush and it all gets very messy. I practise them for
hours with metronome slowly, then faster but still mess it up when I put the
piece altogether.
Just wondering if anyone has any other advice apart from doing them slowly
with a metronome. This is obviously very worrying!

Thanks!

Gillian
