Two clarinets are used for Hansel and Gretel. There may be a bass
clarinet, but every time I played it, there was none. It is a
magnificent work that is simply a joy to play. People often make
remarks sayings that it is second rate Wagner, but I think that
is putting down something simply because it is approachable and
clear, the very opposite of the Wagner operas.

The orchestration is wonderful, the melodies grand, and there is
a lot of work to do.

Does anyone know what the clarinet requirements are for the
Hansel And
Gretel ballet? Our church orchestra has been requested to play
by the Birmingham
Ballet.
