Hello all.
I recently received a grant to make a recording because I have a
chronic disease. I decided to make a cd of hope for other people who
are newly diagnosed with chronic diseases, Multiple Sclerosis in
particular.

I wanted to prove to myself that I could play, and still the abilities
to play at a level that was acceptable to me. I was Principal Clarinet
in the San Diego Chamber Orchestra in the late 80s and early 90s. Why
make a cd when I know everyone will talk negatively about my playing.
The truth is I am playing as well if not better than before I was
diagnosed in 2002. I will be recording from June 7 to the 9th. I will
also be performing a pre-recording recital on June 2nd at the Pilgrim
Congregational Church in Duluth, MN. We will be playing Schumann
Fantasy Pieces, Debussy Premiere Rhapsodie, Lutoslawski Dance Preludes,
William Thomas McKinley Intermezzo, Koechlin En route vers le bonheur,
and Howells Clarinet Sonata.

The Howells Sonata is one of the most spectacular pieces I've ever
heard and played. I certainly hope that my recording can come
reasonably close to Thea King's version. If you wish to a stunning
piece, check out Thea King's cd on Hyperion records. Or check out my
recording when it comes out. Thanks for your time.
