From: Anna Benassi <acb@-----.is> Subj: [kl] [SOT] Query on summer seminars for band directors/wind teachers Date: Fri, 05 May 2006 10:17:22 -0400
Hi, all,
I'm sending a query on behalf of a colleague who has been the band =20
director at my school for upwards of 20 years. He is a trumpet player =20=
who teaches all brass instruments and directs all of the bands in the =20=
school (these range from absolute beginners to high school students). =20=
He coaches pop and jazz ensembles as well.
He's interested in seminars and continuing ed programs ranging from =20
1-6 weeks and wants to enhance his knowledge of conducting, =20
arranging, and/or ensemble direction. Though there is no marching =20
band tradition in Iceland, he is interested in learning more about =20
that, too, with an eye to possibly importing something new.
We looked at the Websites of Blue Lake, Interlochen, and Banff the =20
other day, but these are either for student players or for current =20
and prospective performers; they don't target the teacher/director. =20
Northwestern University offers a few possibles, including a 4-year =20
master's in music ed. All interesting, and food for the data bank.
If any of you have information on programs that might target band =20
directors and/or wind ensemble coaches, please let us know. Feel free =20=
to respond off-list if you think it's more appropriate.
Thanks in advance,
Anne
