From: Margaret Thornhill <clarinetstudio@-----.net> Subj: [kl] Los Angeles Clarinet Choir concerts, May 13 and 14 Date: Wed, 03 May 2006 19:41:47 -0400
The LOS ANGELES CLARINET CHOIR, (having grown to its maximum size of 17
accomplished adult clarinets), will present two concerts in Southern
California next week:
Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 PM at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902
Montrose Ave., La Crescenta, California 91214
Sunday, May 14 at 3PM at the South Pasadena Library Community Room, 1115
El Centro, South Pasadena, California* 91030
These concerts are free, with a suggested donation.
The program includes an area premiere of a delightful four-movement work
by the remarkable young composer, Spencer Dorn, "A Collection for
Clarinet Choir"; Debussy's "Petite Suite" arranged by Russell Howland;
"Adagietto from L'Arlesienne" by Bizet, arr. Caillet; a beautiful
surprise arrangement by our resident arranger/basset hornist, Jeff
Lewis; Nelhybel's "Chorale and Danza"; Sousa's "Stars and Stripes"
arranged Conley; and Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite #1" arranged for
the Piet Jeegers Clarinet Choir by L. Jan Coeck (and available only
through them.)
The Grieg has divisi everything! --including alto (which we've replaced
with two basset horns), basses, and contra (B-flat and alto) on the
famous "Hall of the Mountain King" : a fabulous, funky blend from the
low clarinets.
If you're in Southern California, stop by and hear us!
