Deborah,

Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about. I played
them for 8 years at the Met and had no problem (now I play Selmer
Signatures). If you want to know how they project, just listen to me play
them on our recordings, like the big solo in the Sicilian Vespers on our
"Verdi Ballet Music" CD.
