Walter, with that combination, one could use a basset horn if the =
composer would permit it. Both instruments are in F, though the b.h. =
can go a lot lower. It's worth a shot since there is so little music for =
both clarinet and basset horn in the same piece.

Subject: [kl] Commercial msg - new piece by Donald Draganski

have made another piece by Donald Draganski available on my website.

The piece is entitled "Journey to Ithaca"

here is the composer's quote:

Journey to Ithaca =E2=80=93 Seven Variations in Search of a Theme, =
Quartet for=20
Clarinet, English Horn, Viola, and Cello (2000) =20
Composer=E2=80=99s note: =E2=80=9CThis Quartet consists of a set of =
extended =E2=80=9Cvariations=E2=80=9D=20
whose underlying =E2=80=9Ctheme=E2=80=9D is never explicitly stated; =
hence its=20
Pirandello-esque subtitle. Indeed, the theme=E2=80=99s very existence =
is inherent=20
only in the act=20
of seeking it. Perhaps the tune exists in some abstract Platonic =
reality,=20
but=20
the variations are the journey, and the journey is the =
striving.=E2=80=9D>>

This is a great recital/chamber music concert piece. Lasts about 15 =
minutes.
