The "rippling" figures at the beginning of "Vltava" (aka "Moldau") are much
easier to play on C clarinets (for which they were written), and,
interestingly
(perhaps!) they lie better on an A clarinet than on a b flat. Especially if
the
players are amateurs, not playing on the B flat frees them to think more
about
listening to one another than about introduced technical problems.
