Dan, I wish I could keep my mouth closed about this, but I can't.
The composer's wishes are only part of the equation, not the entire
equation, when making decisions about one's own playing.
Or to say it in other words: "Knows" assumes that there is a definitive
decision rule, which frequently there is not in music.
