Hang on, hang on, we need to clarify some stuff here. From what I know
a lot of Middle Eastern music uses the *soprano* clarinet in G---that
is, a clarinet pitched a tone below the A clarinet. Historically basset
horns were made in this transposition and Mozart's clarinet concerto was
originally sketched for such an instrument before being transposed up a
tone for the A basset clarinet. For those interested, Steve Fox makes

*Sopranino* clarinet in G is another matter: it's the "sharp" equivalent
to the high Ab clarinet, the smallest clarinet still in use that I know
of. It was used by the Schrammel quartet in Vienna in the 19th century,
