What do you mean, "Doesn't play or sound right"? The last clarinet I
bought, I tried more than 10 in the shop before finding the one that was
right for me. (In fact I tried more than 10 in the shop, narrowed it
down to 4, and took those ones away to try out with my teacher's
assistance.) An R13 is not a magic button to make you play with "the
R13 sound".
If there's something mechanically wrong with the instrument, send it
back. That's a legitimate complaint. If on the other hand you are
simply consistently finding that you don't like R13 clarinets, or that
they don't work with your mouthpiece/reed setup, or whatever, then this
has nothing to do with "ethics" or "lax" behaviour of the seller. It
simply means the instrument isn't right for you.
