Has anyone tried the Allora brand clarinets that Tom Ridenour was involved
in designing and made in Germany? I've been looking for a bass clarinet for
my daughter and so far haven't been happy with those we've tried. The
Alloras were suggested but I don't know anyone who has had any experience
with them.

Are you out there Tom? If you get this note, what can you tell us?
Christy

P.S. I ordered a Woodwind low C from the Woodwind and a Selmer 1430 p bass
clarinet and we weren't impressed with either one. The Woodwind brand had a
mouthpiece/ligature combo that made it impossible to secure the reed on the
mouthpiece. I would play a note or two and the reed would fall off the
instrument. If we hadn't had two different instrument here available to use
to exchange parts, it would have been extremely difficult to test play the
Woodwind brand. There is also one note that simply does not sound on that
instrument.

The Selmer has a floor peg that is apparently impossible to tighten enough
to hold the instrument in place. I was tempted to try a vice grips on it
but was afraid I would damage it.
