My feeling is that there is no "100% self-consistent" or "universally
acceptable" solution to Iraq --- analogous to there being no "100%
self-consistent" or "universally acceptable" temperament for intonation.

Reality and ideology never match each other completely. One side, or
both sides, need to compromise and/or forgive --- and then be willing to
live with the compromise long term, in the same spirit (albeit to a
different degree) as I am willing to tolerate people who enjoy the taste
of sauerkraut and mouth-burning chile.
