From: "Stermers" <stermers@-----.net> Subj: [kl] overhaul question - new R-13 Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2006 14:25:40 -0500
Hello,
I just purchased a new Buffet R-13 Bb and wanted to know if I should have it
re-padded with better quality pads? Pretty much an overhaul without the
need for polishing and buffing the keys.
The R-13s come from the factory with Gortex synthetic pads which I have been
told is not of the best quality. This could cause instability with the
instrument as pads not sealing properly, intonation problems, etc.
If you think I should re-pad it now, then what type of pad would you
recommend and why? The best double-bladder pads everywhere? Cork on the
upper joint and double-bladder pads everywhere else? Or Valentino pads
everywhere? Lots of opinions I'm sure as what to use, eh?
Thank you in advance for your comments. Lori
