Oh Audrey,

My heart is with you, as are my prayers at this, what must be a hard and
distressing time for you. But have faith, if any can be found, for whatever
suffering she may be enduring now may lead her to a far better place where
no suffering exists.

My own mother is 83 and suffers from COPD and type II Diabetes among other
problems, and I dread her own eventual descent into the depths, but it is
inevitable, and come it will. We just have to remember to be as loving and
caring in their final days, weeks, months, years, as they were caring and
unconditionally loving toward us when we were their children.

HaShem will guard and protect her, no matter what suffering she seems to be
suffering now, I really feel that HaShem reaches out to ease the soul of the
one in the pangs or throes of what we call the end.

And know that it is good to cry and let the tears flow, for the more tears
show something of the loss you feel and the love you had for that great and
wonderful woman now leaving this world.

It is funny, but the Kaddish, the traditional prayer to honor the dead is
actually a song prasing G-D's holy name. And it seems to me, even though we
Jews see the Kaddish as a draw-back in utter horror type thing, we should
say it for the dying too, for it it into G-D's hands we are trying to send
this one we loved so dearly, to be loved by that source of all love that
through It's love gave us the ability to love one another.

Audrey, may you know peace at this stressful time, may you know peace, but
may your mother know and experience peace too, and the best thing to do is
to be with her, and to show her that you love her and loved her and will
love her for all eternity, up unto the very end.

Shalom,

Rafi
