Subj: [kl] Buffet R-13 Played and Failed
Date: Fri, 03 Mar 2006 20:09:45 -0500

Tom and the whole list,

Just so everyone will know I just greased up the joints on #3 and the fit
was a little tight, the bell joint was especially tight.

So a tenon/joint fix is needed.

Secondly #3 played consistently flat on all three registers, huzzah, another
loser!

Let's here it for Buffet Crampon and the wonderful caring and concerned
folks at WWBW who say they pre-test every instrument before they ship it.
Sure they do.

But I've heard it before and now I believe it, it takes maybe 10 tries, 15,
20, 30, 50 or 100 before you find that one sweet Buffet R-13 that Pierre
cared enough to really pour his heart and soul into that day over in Paris.

How many will I have to play before I find one that'll play as in tune as
the Vito student model that Larry Naylor refitted for me last year? I
dunno, but I going to keep trying.

I just hope my Balwin/Hamilton 5025E Piano is going to be a winner when it
comes, if not, then I'll know I am cursed!

But my question is this, why can't Buffet make a consistently high-quality
product? Its not like we don't hold them in the highest regard and aren't
willing to pay top dollar for it, are we? I mean most folks seem to have or
want a Buffet one way or another. They can't be as bad as all that, can
they?

It just gets old, this back and forth, exchange and exchange, and exchange,
ad infinitum. What ever happened to ethics of care and quality control?

Peace,

Rafi
