I've been asked once every so often if I would let the list know what's
happening with my son. As many of you know, he graduated from
Interlochen Arts Academy in 2000 after studying with Richard Hawkins for
3 years, and then got his bachelors in clarinet performance from
Cleveland Inst. of Music in 2004 after study with Linnea Nereim and
Frank Cohen. He moved to Japan in 2004 and has been conducting and
teaching winds at the International School of the Sacred Heart Academy
in Tokyo, doing some translating, playing clarinet and recording with
the Sereno Wind Ensemble, playing clarinet with the Kosei Winds on
occasion, conducting musicals, performing at various venues in the Tokyo
Metro area, and recently became music director of a small opera company.

Today he let me know that he was accepted at the *Tokyo* Geijutsu
Daigaku (also known as the Tokyo Geidai or *Tokyo* National University
of Fine Arts & Music) as a graduate student in conducting. He's fallen
in love with conducting and is now pursuing that as a continuing career.
He will be studying with ** <http://www.geidai.ac.jp/english/>**
Ken'ichiro* <http://www.geidai.ac.jp/english/>** Kobayashi and Kotaro Sato.*
