Thank you David, for your help and comments. Gosh they are significantly
different recordings, 2.30 must be extremely quick, so far nothing I've
heard is any where near that tempo. Are the two recordings you recommend
available on itunes?

How can you be sure, by listening?

I just listened to the Kell recording and he absolutely played the 1st mvt
on Bb - I'm sure about that. It was obvious in the 1st 2 measures. I don't
have the 2nd as I didn't get it from ITUNES but you would figure that he
played all on the same Clarinet.

If you want 2 really, really contrasting recordings, then contrast the
recording of Wright - Boston Records BR1005CD (ultra slow! at 3:50 ) and
Charles Stier (really quick at 2:30) with the Shifrin recording (3:25) near
the middle.
